Dolna Banya Flying School
Dolna Banya Airport is the first private airport in Bulgaria, and is fully licensed under the requirements of the Civil Aviation Authority. Located in the upper Maritza river valley between the sleepy towns of Dolna Banya and Kostenets, it is a 15 minute drive from Borovets.
Flying School
The flying school at the airport is staffed by qualified professionals with backgrounds in military and civil aviation. The school offers a range of services from basic trial flights, through to full PPL (Private Pilot License) courses.
Since 2004, the Bulgarian Civil Aviation Administration has been a member of JAA (Joint Aviation Authorities in Europe), and any PPL's issued are valid throughout the world. However, every Flying Club or Airport Authority may wish to verify the skills of the pilot independenctly.
Aeroplane Fleet
The school has a fleet of P92 S Echo's, produced by the Italian manufacturer Tecnam (read Tecnam's own P92 Echo Aircraft Specification). This modern plane has outstanding flying performance and is very easy to fly, which makes it perfect for flight training.
The piloting, navigational and radio equipment are of the highest standard, including an integrated GPS system and GRS Ballistic Parachute (an emergency parachute sysytem designed to bring the plane and crew safely to the ground, even from low altitudes).
