Founded in the 10th Century by St. John of Rila, this visually stunning monastery is today a renowned UNESCO World Heritage site.
The Rila Mountains and foothills around Borovets offer numerous opportunities for the occasional rambler and serious hiker alike.
The only private airfield in Bulgaria is 20 minutes drive from Borovets, and offers lessons and even complete pilot license courses.
The 18-hole Ihtiman golf course is one of the few courses in the country.
Summer In Bansko
Bansko lies in Bulgaria's second highest range, the Pirin Mountains, which are incredibly rich in wildlife, flora and fauna, whilst the valleys of the Struma and Mesta rivers ensure that the Summer months are warm with the highest number of sunny days of any mountain area in the country. Pure water tarns and wildflowers abound in the highland valleys and the unique ecosystem is home to a number of rare plant species such as the Edelweiss.

The mountains are easily accessible between May and September, and we can provide a range of excursions to suit all skill levels.
Running from Septemvri to Dobrinishte, the railway gives stunning views of the Pirin Mountains.
An international jazz festival is held every year from 8-13 August, and is celebrating its 10th anniversary in 2007!
This park provides a rich forest environment to many of the bears so cruelly mistreated in the past, located 33km from Bansko near Belitsa.
